From Information (Processing) to Knowledge (Management)

¨Je velmi důležité stanovit rozdíl mezi informacemi a daty, a také znalostmi a rozumem. Tak zvaná Nová Ekonomika (New Economy) již užívá pojem "znalosti" jako klíčový, stále ještě všakpodporovaný informačními technologiemi (IT).řestože rozděluje znalosti jednoduše na skryté a určité, bez vymezení samotného pojmu znalosti a bez jeho odlišení od informací, je specifickým fenoménem, který se bude do budoucna objevovat ve znalostním managementu. Zastáváme názor, že zatímco informace jsou pouze symbolickým popisem činnosti, znalosti odpovídající činnosti samé, jsou záměrnou souhrou činnosti. Z tohoto pohledu, informace jsou vstupem do koordinace procesů tak, aby došlo k dosažení očekávaných cílů. "Znám to, protože to dělám a dělám to proto, že to znám." Být informován či mít přístup k informacím je nezbytnou, ale jistě ne dostatečnou podmínkou pro úspěch každé aktivity. So-called New Economy is already using "knowledge" as its keyword, yet it still supports itself with Information Technology (IT). Simply dividing knowledge into tacit and explicit, without defining "knowledge" and without distinguishing it from information, is a curious phenomenon that is still going to come haunt Knowledge management. We argue that while information is a symbolic description of action, knowledge refers to the action itself, more precisely to its purposeful coordination. In this view, information is an input into the activity of coordinating processes towards achieving objectives or goals. I know because I do and I do because I know. Being informed or having the information is necessary but certainly not sufficient for successful action. "It is the greatest truth of our age: Information is not knowledge."
