Anotation:
The article points out the lack of agreement among the individual states of the EU when addressing the issues of the regional policy and autonomy of regions. The example of borderline co-operation in the Euroregion Nisa can be used to illustrate the following thesis: the co-operation among borderline regions which is based on tradition, joint history of the region and mutual respect for sovereignty of its individual parts appears to be an asset for the whole region and it is possible to consider it as a preparatory process for the integration of territorial units in correspondence with the European standard.
